The government of Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Patanjali Yogpeeth, has launched an initiative aimed at enhancing the economic landscape of rural areas. The administration led by Yogi Adityanath plans to repurpose cow shelters into hubs for rural industry, extending their role beyond merely safeguarding cattle. This initiative will focus on the large-scale production of Panchgavya products, including cow urine, cow dung, Ayurvedic items derived from milk, and biogas, thereby fostering self-sufficiency and prosperity in villages.
Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna from Patanjali Yogpeeth are set to play a pivotal role in this transformative project. A recent agreement was signed in Haridwar by Shyam Bihari Gupta, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Gau Seva Commission, alongside Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna. Patanjali will provide support to the government in areas such as technical training, product formulation, quality assurance, certification, and licensing.
The initiative will revamp cow shelters across 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. Each district will see the establishment of two model cow shelters that will not only care for the cows but also create new job opportunities for local residents. Villagers will be actively involved in collecting cow urine and selling Panchgavya products, earning up to a 50% commission on sales.
This innovative scheme will incorporate advanced technologies, including geo-fencing, cow tagging, photo mapping, and fodder tracking within the cow shelters. Additionally, it will promote natural farming practices by encouraging the use of neem, vermicompost, and cow urine-based resources, which will help lower farming costs, enhance soil fertility, and protect the environment. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasizes that 'the foundation of village progress lies in the cow,' asserting that this initiative will strengthen the economic fabric of rural communities.
